| THE S.H.A.F.T. FILES | THE FALCON Sam Wilson was a dedicated social worker, doing what he could to help inner city street kids until he was kidnapped by agents of the CIA. Brainwashed by their MK-ULTRA program – the same mind control program that produced the assassins of JFK, RFK, MLK, John Lennon, and Ronald Reagan – Sam was given a new identity and the artificial memories to match. Now believing himself to be Snap Wilson, a small-time street thug and pimp, he was programmed by the CIA to assassinate Captain America, who had recently left SHIELD to join SHAFT. Cap survived the assassination attempt, and quickly realized that “Snap” was merely a pawn when he discovered a copy of Catcher in the Rye tucked in a pocket of Snap's pimp suit. Sam Wilson was taken to the Wakandan Embassy in New York for deprogramming, after which he volunteered to join SHAFT. Inspired by his mutant ability, which gives him a Beastmaster-style connection to his pet hawk Redwing, Wilson created the Falcon identity for himself, after which the Black Panther used Wakandan technology to manufacture his trademark wings. Nick Fury saw to it that The Falcon was publicly vindicated by leaking his SHIELD file to the Daily Bugle. The classified documents detailed the winged superhero's unwitting involvement in the CIA's MK-ULTRA project and described how Sam Wilson was drugged and brainwashed by ex-Nazi operatives within the Central Intelligence Agency, implanted with false memories of a criminal history, and programmed to kill Captain America on the Red Skull's command. The Falcon celebrated the news by placing all of his 186 copies of Catcher in the Rye for sale on Half.com, and putting his pimp hats up for auction on eBay.The Falcon is now a valued member of the Avengers Cell, and the sole employee of SHAFT, Inc.'s Falcon Express. |
